May Day Cometh

The First Sergeant and I spent time in the garden over the weekend, fluffing and cutting, digging and potting.
It's the time of the year, when everything is blooming at once, the time of year, when it can be enjoyed before the hot and humid days of Summer arrive.

The bicycle gets a new basket of flowers.

"Sweet May hath come to love us,
Flowers, trees, their blossoms don;
And through the blue heavens above us
The very clouds move on."

- Heinrich Heine, Book of Song

We created a pot person. I named her Beatrix Potter.
She's taking a break from gardening right now, and enjoying a nice cup of tea.

Your place makes me think of an English garden and Beatrix Potter is wonderful with her cup of tea.

Ms. Potter never looked so good. I like how she sits on the bench and holds her tea. The flowers in the basket look great too.

You have such a lovely garden, Jo! The bike basket is so sweet with it's pretty petunias and fluffy moss and Beatrix is just about the most clever thing I've seen. Still having a few nights in the 20's so we're not quite ready to plant here in the Northeast, but you've given me inspiration for my own little garden! Thank you! ~Mary

Beatrix Potter, indeed! What a great use of pots!! How on earth does she stay together?
This really is the best time in the garden, May, before the major heat descends upon us and causes all our dear plants to droop in despair.

AH yes, FIREFLIES and Lightning bugs, they mesmerize me!

"Potter" is perfect a name here, Jo. haha. :)

Have you ever, btw, seen "Miss Potter"? I so love it.

Currently loving Downton Abbey too. Julian Fellowes is brilliant.

Jeri :
She's held together with wire, wrapped around a nail to stop it from slipping through the pot's drainage holes.
Another way is to use rope, and tie knots to stop from slipping through the drainage holes.

Your garden is delightful, full of great ideas. We live in East TN, so everything is blooming beautifully here, I love it. Miss Potter is one of my favorite authors, and the "potted" Miss Potter takes the prize. I'm headed right out to try this.
Thanks
