Winter Friendships.
"Winter, a lingering season, is a time to gather golden moments, embark upon a sentimental journey, and enjoy every idle hour. "
~John Boswell
Ratty, and Mole visiting Badger ~ Wind in the Willows
Hi Betsy, I just found your blog and added myself as a follower. What a treat to find your blog. Winter Friendships was just what I needed to brighten up a cold dreary day. I live about an hour from you in a golf community, Avalon, in Lenoir City...just on the border of Knoxville. When I have more time I need to come back and read your older posts. I am an avid gardener who enjoys photographing flowers, landscapes, birds and family. I just recently starting blogging on the Gardener's Index and the Garden Stew but I don't have an individual blog. Cheers...Gail
Hi Jo..I love the post..and you are not gonna believe this, but I absolutely love Wind in the Willows..It is one of my favorites...thanks for the pic in your post..loved it..
Jo, Happy New Year (since it's January, I still can say it LOL)! Such a cute art style! That special atmosphere in winter in Europe during winter is not here in California. Not even where the snow is, high up in the mountains, because they're mostly tourist areas. I miss it once in a while, but not too badly, since I don't like to be cold:)
I'm having my tea right now! Just the thing to help dispel the dreariness of a winter day. I DO love the lovely illustration and although I have to admit to the beauty of a snowy day, my heart yearns for May! Your blog is brilliant and beautiful-- I have so enjoyed perusing your archives--better than a magazine! V.
Thank you Jo, it was your blog on Winter Friendships I was commenting on but I had been viewing Betsy's bio previously. Sorry I am new to all this. I have also subscribed to your blog. What area are you in in TN?
I love this picture, and I would have made a comment this morning but I have to quick get out of the blogs with snow on them. For some reason it makes the fan my poor laptop rev up like it's going to take off! On my big powerful iMac there's no problem.
The copy we had of The Wind in the Willows growing up had those pictures in it. It immediately transported me back to when I was little and used to pour over that book for hours!
TnGardenGal: I have forwarded your comment along to Betsy @ Joyful Reflections, I'm sure she will thank you for your comment. I live just oustside of Nashville, Tn so slightly further East than where you and Betsy live. Thank you for your lovely comment also, I hope you stop by often. Jo
Andora: I didn't realize just how many people love The Wind in the Willows...it seems to have stirred many memories ;)
Jeannette: Happy new year to you also, I would say Europe has had it's fill of snow for at least one Winter, wouldn't you ? On the other hand, you are snug as a bug up there in the mountains. ;)
Stickhorsecowgirls: Tea...cures all that ails you ;) Thank you for your kind comments, I'm glad you enjoy ;)
DJAn: Hello friend ! I'll be taking the falling snow off shortly, sorry it messes with your confuser.... I've been keeping up with you, and your blog ;)
The Prodigal Tourist: Glad you enjoyed the illustration, right now i can't think of anything other than your full English breakfast :)
Richard @ The Bewildered Brit: It sounds like the same copy I have ! I never get tired of reading through it and gazing at the illustrations. Thanks for stopping by !
I love that post Jo. I tried to order In The Night Garden on Amazon and they said something about only playing in Britain because of something. Do you know what that could be?
Donna: The videos are on a different format in England, if it is an English video, it would have to be converted to what we play here in the States. Beta ? Not sure, but usually they offer that... I'll try and find out further.
As we have been snowed in for so long,we have spent evenings talking about old friends and remembering times past,it made me very sentimental. Wind in the willows was my favourite childhood book and still enjoy reading it to my grandchildren.
I just adore the Wind in the Willows and this picture sums up what it is all about for me. Those gorgeous animals seem so cosy in their little homes don't they. Blessings, Star
This is a really great illustration from Wind in the willows. I still buy a child's book once in a while solely for the wonderful illustrations. Thanks for your ideas on the pressed glass web sites.
