Tell you what I like the best --
'Long about knee-deep in June,
'Bout the time strawberries melts
On the vine, -- some afternoon
Like to jes' git out and rest,
And not work at nothin' else!"
'Bout the time strawberries melts
On the vine, -- some afternoon
Like to jes' git out and rest,
And not work at nothin' else!"

What a great poem! My backyard becomes full of wild strawberries in early June. When I was a little girl churches had strawberry festivals. I remember the lucious strawberry shortcakes.
Your porch is a perfect place to work at nothin' and relax. I've always liked Riley's poetry. I was raised in Southern California, and the strawberry season was in February and March. The strawberry fields were mostly maintained by the Japanese.
Beautiful. Mind if I sit a spell?
I'd like a seat on your porch too. June is usually a warm and enjoyable month but we've had scorching sun and everything is dry and brown
What a lovely porch!
What a delightful porch to sit, dream and rest!
Joining the porch gathering and sharing
memories of the church strawberry festival
and its homage to Spring. Your setting is
so inviting, Jo.
A lovely porch to sit a while :)
All the best Jan
Wonderful porch with the hanging ferns. It all makes a great place to sit and look out.
