October Days

We had our first real taste of Autumn weather last night, tonight down in the mid forties and snugly blankets will once again return to the beds.

The sound of distant laughter can be heard from giggly school children enjoying their Fall break, and down on Main Street Oktoberfest's are in full swing.

"When everything that ticked has stopped,
And space stares, all around,
Or grisly frosts, first autumn morns,
Repeal the beating ground."

I have to wait a little longer till I can snuggle under my duvet. Oktoberfest, now I wish we had one of those!! I like hearing about 'Mainstreet". Sounds so American to me

Our first October frost took me by surprise last night. It was in the 30s here in my area of TN. An Octoberfest would be wonderful.

This is certainly a lovely and cozy time of the year. We too are snuggly in. Hope you continue to enjoy each beautiful day of October.

Love that bench photo!! Perfectly captures the moody darkness of autumn - my favorite season! I've always thought it was unfair that there are places in the world where it's always summer, or always winter, but no place where it's autumn all the time. You know that's where I'd live! I guess it's the fact that autumn and spring are so fleeting, and encompass so much change, that makes them precious to us. If flowers stayed in bloom all year, we wouldn't prize them so much. To me, the smell of decaying leaves and dying fires is the best perfume...

I am glad to hear the furnace turn on at cold nights. I always enjoy the moss on the bench. I wouldn't sit on it though.
