I know it is too late now, but I always make sure if a pet dies the others get to smell of the one we lost so they know what is going on.It may not have been safe for a smell though with this, if it is spread easily.Hugs to you all.
Jo, That makes me cry. Oliver was so loved. My daughter lost a cat she had for a long time and Sam the dog misses Ozzy. One of Liz's neighbor's brought Sam home and said she was having company, this was a few years ago. Then the the lady calls and tells Liz, your dog is back and he brought a cat with him. My daughter said , "yes, that's Sam's cat , Ozzy." They slept in the same big dog bed, they laid on each other. It was nothing to see Sam and Ozzy walking down the road together. Thankful it's low traffic road. So you can see why Sam misses Ozzy. Tom-Tilly must be sad and lonely for Oliver. Breaks my heart Jo. Hugs to you and the cat. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
This brings tears to my eyes. We had two litter mates that were inseperable. When one died at the age of 4 the other one was devastated. It took a long time for Jet to get over it but now at the age of 13 he's so much better. So sorry for your loss. Loosing our furry loved ones is heartbreaking.
Yes, she will suffer in her own way and all you can do is sit and hold her.
It's always so sad, as they don't know. I brought my Zoe home for just a short time after she passed away, so the other pets could see she was gone and understand. Take care.
I'm thinking Tom-Tilly knows that Oliver has passed. She was able to sit next to him everyday, although she distanced herself from him the last few days. I wrapped him in a blanket and showed him to her, but I think it's his absence that is hurting her the most.xx
So sad. I know my other cats knew when a brother or sister passed but they would seem to sense something I could not see around them. They grieve too. God bless their little hearts
Ah this is such a hard time for you and Tom Tilly. Take care. Hugs!
I'm so sorry for you and Oliver. I missed a few days, I thought he was getting better! He looked so much like my boy, Red. Red was the greatest cat and I miss him deeply. I imagine it is the same for you. We are down to one cat now, and Cheryl says Hiro will be our last.. but I seem to have other ideas; adopting the stray cats around the neighborhood. They stay outside, so "technically" they are not "ours". But they show up for treats, food, play time, and pets. If we are not careful, they slip inside and make themselves at home. I would say the best way to heal a broken heart is to adopt another cat, but they are never a replacement for the one that is lost.
I'm sure Tom Tilly is grieving... in her own way. I always made sure that the other cats said their goodbyes and somehow I always felt that they 'knew'. Julie almost never left Tux's side his last few days.
It breaks my heart to think of that wonderful cat gone from the world. I wouldn't know how to tell his companion that he's gone, either. :-(
So sad. Give her an extra hug from me.
This hurts as much as Oliver's death. Tom-Tilly will be okay in time with your love and attention.
You're right, it's the absence that is hurting Tom-Tilly the most right now. Gosh, I feel so bad for her. Just love her extra. Pogo and I sending hugs for both of you, Edna H.
Enfold her in your arms frequently and assure her of your love...it will be comforting for you both. A lovely light has gone out of your lives and the healing will take time, but it will happen.
Heartbraking!Uff so sad!But remember Oliver is a good place now and will always be rememberedmuch love to youxxx
That's such a sad picture. I know you'll provide comfort for each other, but it's so hard when we can't explain to them :(
So very sad.
