The trees were just beginning their Autumn show, a little over a month ago.
And when we were finally receiving some much needed rain, we had our first freeze of the season.
Everything seemed to stop.
Yesterday, we awoke to an incredible sunrise, it cast an orange hue across the landscape. The difference a month makes, between changing landscapes.
The grass has now gone to bed until Spring.
Leaf-raking begins.
We still have color on the trees, and more to come, from the late-comers of the woods.
There's talk of an upcoming power outage on social media.
In reality, this is a regular drill used by the Army Military Auxiliary Radio System also known as MARS to test what would happen if there ever were a large scale power or communications outage.
A statement released by the defense department says:
“The exercise will simulate a power outage scenario, it will not impact public or private communications. There will be no power outages of communication systems. This exercise is designed to improve readiness, build cooperation and public awareness, and better prepared to defend the nation.”
In the event, things do not go as planned. I'll see you on the other side.
The best of luck to us all.

I certainly hope they are prepared for all eventualities. I will have to start cleanup soon. Still have to put new lights on my dock and fix the goldfish pond. Or try to get the yard guys to.
Love the pretty trees but not so much all the leaves on the ground! Don't forget to Fall Back tonight, Jo. :-)
Lovely fall colors!
I hope things go smoothly with the drill.
Kinda scary, isn't it? It is amazing how quickly the landscape can change. I had just about given up on seeing any fall color here, but now that we've had a little rain, the leaves, the ones that are left anyway, are turning pretty colors. It is always beautiful around your home!
love them trees
Beautiful colors! Fall is amazing!
I hope the test goes well! And you have power!
Jo, What pretty photos. I love the bright skies of autumn. We had power glitches on Sunday, from storms. There were tornadoes in our state. Not as bad as it could have been , thank God. I thought we lost our internet and had to work to bring it back up. Big pain , you know where. :):) I need this computer when I can not get out and about. I am staying in since going to the dentist yesterday morning. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
Just as we started to show a varying amount of color...the rains came. You have a beautiful looking yard.
Your leaves are beautiful. Our fall started out bright colored cut things just really didn't stay that way for very long. I have yellows at the old place. Your yard shots show that great green too.
