Heaven Scent

The wild Honeysuckle is in bloom.
Its sweet scent floating across the meadow..
Intoxicatingly delicious.

Memories of warm days in May, as a child sucking the sweet nectar.
Innocence and childhood going hand in hand.

So doth the woodbine the sweet honeysuckle
Gently entwist. The female ivy so
Enrings the barky fingers of the elm.
Oh, how I love thee! How I dote on thee!

We have the scent of honeysuckle all around too. I love it! Honeysuckle, like the lightening bugs you posted about, brings back another favorite childhood memory.

It is Officially Summer to me when I smell honeysuckle. :) and yes, lightening bugs.
I grew up in NC.
We caught lightening bugs and put them in jars, then our mom would free them after we fell asleep :)

The most fragrant honeysuckle I can recall was also from my childhood, our tiny back garden in NYC where the honeysuckle grew wild along the back fence and we would sip the sweet nectar and be in heaven!!

It definitely is a strong smell, that's for sure. Sometimes I like it but other times it seems too much. :-)

Love the verse, and you're right about the honeysuckle. Ours is getting ready to bloom - A true sign summer is coming, along with lightning bugs of course, that haven't appeared yet either.

Hot days and warm nights with sweet honeysuckle in the air.
Can't get any better then that.
