We have only received 1 Christmas card so far. A sign of the times. Of course, it helps if we sent them out. We haven't done this in a couple of years. Maybe next year, we'll start again.
I love the sentiment of Christmas cards. The first one was believed to be sent in 1843. In England of course. Sadly, I haven't sent more than a couple each year and get few back. I just send a really nice card to my bests and those alone.
I do. And I believe I will start on mine tomorrow. Who knows one day hand written cards will be illegal and all those we send these years will be worth millions...or not.
Yes I do agree. Like you, my list shrinks every year. Some people die, others move out of my life and now that I'm not at work, I don't send reams of cards to people I see every day. It is lovely to keep in touch with folk you maybe see once a year at most. I send a card and maybe a photo, sometimes a letter. I think about these people throughout the year, but at Christmas, I like to make myself known so that they know I still think about them. It's a lovely time to do that and a real card popping through the door at Christmas time is so much nicer than a message on the internet, in my opinion.
My list gets shorter each year, too. I think it's a sign of the times, or perhaps my age... who knows. I love getting cards, though so i should send out more.
Yes, please put the kettle on. I need some tea. Just back from 2 weeks in New Orleans and catching up on reading posts back to Thanksgiving. You're definitely ahead of me with Christmas cards as I haven't bought them yet... but will this week. I love the magic of Christmas too! I can feel it in the air. Oh... and Happy Belated Thanksgiving!
I love making and sending Christmas cards, but this year, alas, everything is packed away and my craft room has become a storage room. I love the pic of the vintage card. Dianne
Yes, I am old school and get testy when all means of communication is electronic. A couple of years ago I went through Shutterfly to make cards with a donkey photo and it was well received. Note to self: Need to do that next year
Yes, I now write a generic Christmas letter to send out for all those who we don't see and never call. It is great to send them and to receive them.
