Winter's First Snow

Mother Nature threw down her blanket shortly after midnight last night, just in time for an artic blast moving through area.
Our first snowfall of the year, magically transforming the landscape.

Out of the bosom of the air,
Out of the cloudfolds of her garment shaken,
Over the woodlands, brown and bare
Over the harvest-fields forsaken,
Silent, and soft, and slow
Descends the snow.

~~By Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.~~

Your so lucky to have such beautful snow! And we loved the poem too.
We have not gotten our snows yet. I wonder if we will.

Oh I love the picture and the poem, Jo!! You make me wish for snow here in North Carolina. Our mountain areas have had snow this year, but so far we've had exactly zero snow in our area. :(

Enjoy the rest of you weekend.

Hugs,

Denise

We have yet to have a snow this year. I think a snowflake or two has fallen but it's been a mild winter, so far. We still have a month and a half to go so it can still happen and I hope NOT! Carla

It looks so pretty. I love the picture. It looks so peaceful. I just don't like the cold. If we could just have snow--no ice -- in the warm weather. Ha ha! Well I can dream can't I?

my fav poet, or at least one of them. Actually, not a huge fan of poetry even though I like to write it, but some poets just hit the right note with me. He is one of them. Thanks for reminding me of this.
