Rain-Soaked

The earth is soaked from yesterday's rainfall , leaving early morning misty landscapes.
Long overdue, Winter days are now warming, later in the week, a predicted balmy 70 degrees.

The Iris are pushing their shoots out of the soil, I keep reminding them it's Winter and to stay safely snuggled beneath their blanket of earth, but they insist on reaching out to feel the warmth of the sun.

The First Sergeant has taken his bird-feeding duties most seriously, and has developed quite a following.
His goal is to have them feed out of his hand, but with cat's around, I'm not sure if that's such a wise thing.

The wild turkeys appear morning and evening, a flock of forty or more.

They feed on the Sunflower seeds and anything else they choose.

Tell me when the Sarge learns to coax the birds to eat from his hand. I've tried and failed and need some advice. Spring is sending us messages, thank goodness.

This is fabulous Jo .
To see this makes me think Spring ~
even as I look outside my own window and see it snowing .

They look a little large for a wild bird feeder. On good days I bet you enjoy them.

That is so funny , we had deer's but never turkeys in the yard. Can you kill them to eat?
We are warming up but very wet here.

I love your turkeys. They remind me of my pheasants. Except that I only have two :(

Beautiful photographs. We are overcast here in SoCal today, but still warm.

Hurrah for 70 degrees in East Tennessee as well! I am sure you will be taking advantage of it to poke about in the garden and see what's beginning to erupt; I know I will.

Yay! Spring is right around the corner in Tennessee, it seems. Love those wild turkeys, Jo. And I agree with you about those birds not getting too tame. :-)

Wonderful photos. Oh you are warming up that's awesome . We are to but not that warm lol we will be at least 40°F by Thursday with rain so with a bit of luck most if not all of our snow will be gone . I keep tying to get our birdies to fed from my hand but Miggs is always with me and they get a little weary which is strange cause any other time she is out they don't seem to take notice of her very much and when I re fill the feeders which I have to do every other day they are practically hanging off them before I hang them up lol oh well one day I guess lol ! Thanks for sharing . Have a great week !

There is a small flock of wild turkeys in our neighborhood that sometimes make an appearance. Yours come really close! I wonder how long it will take for the ground to dry some. We are expecting rain again at times through the week. Wet ground is not good for planting vegetables.

You have a beautiful place. I have never seen that many wild turkeys in anyone's yard!

From the looks of it, the turkeys will be first to eat from the First Sergeant's hand.

Won't be long and we'll have the mowers out.

So very tired of all the rain but at least we shan’t be limited on water usage this summer

So glad for the warming weather. I can't wait until I can go out in my yard and spend time. I have never seen flocks of wild turkeys. It must be really interesting to see them all land and feed.

Glad it is warming up for you and that Spring is just around the corner. Here in the uk there are signs all around, but, like you with your Irises, I don't want things to appear too early, otherwise, Sir Winter will take great delight in cutting them ruthlessly down to size !
