It seems I tend to surround myself with objects that bring back memories of my childhood in England.
One collection in particular is English Staffordshire Ware.
One look at those pastoral village scenes, and I'm transported back to my grandmother's kitchen, where her cupboard displayed shelf upon shelf of these timeless treasures.
I can see the kitchen table covered in a freshly-starched embroidered tablecloth, the milk-jug sitting atop, awaiting the first of many pots of tea served throughout the day.

Your pitchers are gorgeous. I have one blue one I purchased in Canada in the 80's which had come over from England.

Jo, we're so alike. Copper, tiny baskets, the scales and blue and white pottery. Love it all. Oh, and the cottage I spy.
I have one like your first photo but it is a pale green print by Alfred Meakin , England ! I found it at a garage sale and had to snap it up ! I to collect tea pots and jugs of all kinds ! My mum had lots of lovely English dishes and sets but they went to my sister . I know what you mean cause every time I see someone else with these dishes it brings back my memories of my mums collections ! Have a good day !

The things of the past with so many memories just makes the life so much more enriched. I like old pieces because of the mood they create.
We used to have bowls like that when i was younger, unfortunately they have gone now, we may have the odd one somewhere but the rest got broken or chipped :(.
They are a lovely design though.

I have lots of blue & white pottery mainly Wedgewood Willow but some Maling & some Spode Blue Italian. I love it but sadly my daughter doesn't. It will end up on eBay I'm sure!

My favorite collection is English pottery, especially Spode but the only Staffordshire piece I have is a Blue Willow platter from the 1800s. And please tell us, how do you pronounce Staffordshire? Is it just as it's spelled or one of those tricky pronunciations that leaves a syllable out?

Love the Staffordshire ware. I have a blue pitcher and I collect teapots, all bought on my travels to England.

I love this. I feel the same - I love surrounding myself with treasures from family because of all of the memories they invoke.
I do the same thing, I have surrounded myself with things that remind me of the past. Some are silly things like a sock darner but the memory of Dad sitting darning his own socks is priceless to me.
