Autumn's Calling

"September days have the warmth of summer in their briefer hours,
But in their lengthening evenings a prophetic breath of autumn.
The cricket chirps in the noontide, making the most of what remains of his brief life.
The bumblebee is busy among the clover blossoms of the aftermath,
And their shrill and dreamy hum hold the outdoor world above the voices of the song birds,
Now silent or departed."-

~ September Days : Rowland E. Robinson, Vermont

Robinson's poem speaks loudly of change, both the positive and negative. I always miss the song birds when they leave, I feel like I should accompany them.

I've got my hopes pinned on September. In England, last year the weather was lovely. We sure need it to be the same again this year.. it's now officially been the wettest summer for 100 years.

By the time September arrives, I am ready to put the garden to bed, and bid the birds a fond farewell. I miss all the sounds of summer, but the atmosphere takes on an Autumnal peace, which is quite soothing.

Dear One, So glad Autumn is calling! I can hear her whispy voice whispering in the wind.

Gentle sound mixed with twirling leaves that dance in the breeze while the tree branches turn loose of her covering.

May you have a pleasant Autumn,
d

Lovely! I always enjoy your photos and poems and quotes. I have a couple of English friends coming next Sunday. I'm busy this week doing lots of running around and housework (how I love housework - not really, but it will be nice to get everything straight for when they arrive). Have a great week Jo.

Jo, I hope you are healing without too much pain. It sounds like a tough type of surgery. I've never looked in my spam box and clicked on it the other day and saw you there many times. I tried to unclick you so we'll see. Darn new things on blogger.
