Making A Start

I've decided to go minimal on the Christmas decorating this year, at least that's my intentions.
I do seem to have trouble knowing where to stop, once I've started.

For many years, I would hang twinkly faerie lights from every eave of the house, every tree in the yard, even the bird houses would get a mini-set of twinkle.
I would be the crazy neighbor, hanging lights from the porch long after dark, whilst the rest of the world snuggled inside.

I'm going green, please wish me luck !

I think it will be beautiful and natural. Back to the old time ways seems the way to go these days!

I'm doing the same thing this year Jo!
I will be putting a few lights in my front window as there are some small children next door and I like to set an example for the little ones, but besides a 4 foot little artificial tree I am down-playing the glitter thing indoors.
I think it brings a more spiritual feeling to the holiday and since I live alone it works for me.
Have a bright and happy day!

We go minimal every year, but then our whole house is done in Shaker. But the wreath is on the door and there will be a tree in the corner and stockings on the mantlepiece. Jim

Whatever you put out it will add a great beauty to you great home. I don't intend to bring up all of things from the basement this year, just the ones that I really enjoy.

It's hard to not get taken away by feeling like you need more lights--But sometimes less is better!! Good luck!! :-)

Is it because the decors cost a little high these days? Nevertheless, you Christmas decor this year still looks awesome.

I wish you the best of luck and you were and are one of the neighbors I probably would have envied because the outside twinkly lights always look so very pretty. Have a great weekend Jo.

Hi, Brit, I was so happy to see you on my blog again today. My but it has been a long time since either of us have visited the other.

I think Peggy and I go a little crazy on Xmas--rather that PEGGY goes a little crazy on Xmas--but at least she sticks to inside decorations due to much loud moaning and groaning from me.

Jo, Green's good! Go with what makes you happy, and what you have time to enjoy. It took me a long time to figure that out. :) I'm still working on my decorations. LOL
Merry Christmas!

I have cut way back as well! Just too much as I won't get it all taken down till after I am mended from knee surgery. That would probably be end of Jan ??
Besides, Christmas is in the heart, enjoyment of friends, a little comforting food, and a present if we are fortunate to do so. Have a great Christmas. I am thinkng you will enjoy going green :)

Sounds a good idea...with an apartment not so much to decorate outside...I have to admit I may put up a string of colored lights to light my entry way! Natural and green is wonderful!

LOL I hear you Jo! I've been trying to do the same thing this year and so far I'm doing pretty good. I did fill the tree with lots of our old ornaments ..I left a lot of the 'filler' ornaments off this year though. We usually hang icicle lights outside but we haven't done it this year. I've brought lots of Juniper bows into the house and have used them outside as well. I've still got a few things to do but the majority of the decorating is done. Enjoy your 'tweaking' if you do such a thing!
Maura :)
