What a difference a day makes.
Yesterday, we had blue skies and warm temperatures, today has turned chilly and rained throughout the entire day.
I'm not complaining, I love overcast, rainy days.
The nesting days, the kind of day when you can busy yourself with household chores, read a good book, or catch up with old friends.
The sky may be grey, but inside it's warm and cozy......
The rain has hastened the leaf-falling
I've started giving the Blue Willow dishes, their annual bath
Serve with a slice of pickled beetroot or a few pickled onions on the side .
Sit fireside to eat.

I used to love rainy days, but since Ben died, they just make me so darn lonely.
Hugs,
Kay
I love days like that, too! They are my favorite, in fact..days to stay inside and be a hermit. ha.
Good weather with a real excuse to just watch out the window or even take a nap! We did get some color here, not like most years though, but better than no color, right?
That Shepherd's Pie looks mighty inviting!
We had a rainy day too and I made the most of it by quilting. Love the shepherd's pie. Haven't made one in a while. You've made me hungry.. We had homemade vegetable soup..
For me a nesting day has to include some baking - something with cinnamon in it, just for the aroma! And hot chocolate. Oh, and a cat on my lap. And maybe a snuggly blanket. Yup, that sounds about right!
I adore nesting sort of days! I think a sheperds pie will be finding it's way to my dining table very soon!
Looks wonderful! Your pictures are wonderful, too. Yum to that shepherd's pie!
The term "nesting days" is new to me, but I like it. And I welcomed the chance to catch up on some indoor chores that got put off while the beautiful weather drew me outside. But I do like rainy days; I missed them more than anything else when we lived in the desert. Jim
I love that photo of your china - so cozy and inviting.
I love the blue willow and my daughter loves Shepherd's Pie. Now, will you teach me Jo, to love a gray, rainy day?
Mmmmmm...warm and cozy. Can we eat it by the fire together?
Oh you have got the taste buds tingling with that ...I can almost smell the pie. We are out at the old stocks lane school tonight and I'm hoping that the meal will be Shepherds Pie...I can only hope!
I just loved your colorful fall pic. I know just what ya mean. A few days ago we were in the upper seventies and then in a blink of an eye we fell to a chilly 27 degrees. It's pretty typical for our Ozark weather.
That Shepherds Pie looks like the perfect fireside dish but darlin', please tell...what in all that is good and pure is 'a slice of pickled beetroot'????
Inquirin' minds want to know???
God bless and have a beautiful weekend sweetie!!! :o)
love your pictures, lok awesome and love autumn! (greetings from Chile)lol
You have succeeded in making me hungry.
I tried that Shepherds pie mix I added it in for extra flavour. It was delicious. I had never seen it before so had to tell you since I now see it here.

Looks delicious. Did you have to order that from a British shop online or were you able to find it locally? Don't think I've ever noticed it here.
Dianne, it's available through the Publix grocery stores in the British import section, but can also be bought online through British goods online stores..

Good morning- I hope you are having a wonderful start to your weekend. I've arrived here at your blog purely by accident-- my random blog surfing this morning has brought me here to your amazing place---
You truely have a beautiful blog- such stunning photographs-- I could spent my entire day here! I love every post I've read so far- but this one - and your term "nesting days" has captured my soul. I'm in the midst of "nesting days" also- but for me, the term has a little different meaning. Nonetheless- I'm quietly busy- doing my "nesting" - ever grateful for my many blessings and the chance to follow my passions.
I'm your newest follower and I'm so excited at the prospects of visiting you here and spending more time amongst your gorgeous pictures and posts. We love kitties too at our house- and share our home with some precious cats that we adore. I share many of your interests- and we love your state of Tennessee- in fact we are neighbors as we live in Ky.
I hope to visit again soon- I've had such an enjoyable visit--
Vicki
