Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells.

I love autumn ~ but then I say that about the beginning of each new season. Autumn is such a warm and cozy time though, and your little cottage for today is the perfect reflection.
Lots of love,

Pretty prose, has been a long time waiting for Autumn, so glad it's here!
What a wonderful tribute to Autumn. I really enjoy this season, even if I did spend most of the day working on the leaves in the yard!
Oh! Autumn don't leave us yet.

That is the sweetest picture, and how I would love to live in a cottage such as this one. Lovely poem too.
Have a great weekend Jo. First real cold day we have had today and I cooked a stew in my crockpot. Nothing like filling the house up with that kind of aroma on a cold day. Just had a bowl of it and now I think it's time for dessert, a Cadbury's Flake ;)
This sent me looking through one of my favs, "The Cottage Homes of England" yet only one of the 64 illustrations is of the autumn season. No matter, it is a splendid read whilst having a cuppa. Kindest regards, Patricia
