There is something so warm and inviting about the color of Tartan, not as "stuffy" as some of the more formal tablecloths I've used in past Christmas's.
I'ts still a work in progress, needing the Christmas Crackers and few more pieces from England, which are a must have each year.

Oh, I absolutely love the table settig and, yes, quite agree about Tartan. I love my own family tartan which is mch like yours except with not such big squares of green. How perfect for Christmas!

That's a beautiful plaid. If I'm not mistaken, it's a Stewart plaid (I am not sure because the differences between them are not obvious to the uninitiated). But do you know which one it is? Lovely, in any case, and I'm thinkin' it's a wee bit fancy.
Tartan for some reason always reminds me of biscuits!

I've just placed my Christmas order, Plum pudding, hard sauce, trifle makings, mince pies, Bird's custard, Cadbury's biscuits, Scottish shortbread...oh the list goes on, and on.... :)

Denise: Do you have a Homegoods store where you live ? They carry all kinds of English crackers, teapots, dishes, food items. I bought my Tom Smith crackers there, at about one third the regular cost.

DJan: I'm not sure, but think it is the Grant Tartan. Looks very similar to the Stewart Tartan.I like the colors, our family Tartan is not as pretty.

Jo, do tell me about the crackers from England. The ones I have bought stateside are a little disappointing. I'm looking for more exciting trinkets. Are the English ones better? I'd sure like to come to your house for some of the goodies you've ordered, though I have yet to try plum pudding. I have some pudding molds but have never used them. Have you a lemony pudding recipe, or butterscotch pudding recipe to share? I love tartan plaids. My husband and children's lineage goes back to Robert the Bruce.

Tartan is so Christmassy - I hadn't really appreciated how much before. When we were Brits abroad in the USA at Christmas we really missed mince pies, Christmas pud, proper brandy cream (clotted), and the kids craved real Cadburys chocolate (the American version tastes a bit odd to my palate) ..... oh and crackers of course. I did love how so many American houses had so many outside lights .... that's only caught on here in the last few years.
