The Little Home

The little house is not too small
To shelter friends who come to call.
Though low the roof and small its space
It holds the Lord's abounding grace,
And every simple room may be
Endowed with happy memory.
The little house, severely plain,
A wealth of beauty may contain.
Within it those who dwell may find
High faith which makes for peace of mind,
And that sweet understanding which
Can make the poorest cottage rich.
The little house can hold all things
From which the soul's contentment springs.
'Tis not too small for love to grow,
For all the joys that mortals know,
For mirth and song and that delight
Which make the humblest dwelling bright.

I don't quite know how but I just stumbled across your blog and just love it. I can't wait to go and read some of your old posts.
Best wishes, Natasha.
We live in a little farmhouse cottage! I love this, thank you!

I need to remember that when I think my place is too small!! Hugs
Lovely poem and picture. A house without love and laughter is not a home, is it?
Lovely poem with a touching sentiment ,i hope our house offers such welcome,we do try even though it is not a small house.
Fabulous illustration but I must say I read the poem three times over I enjoyed it that much. Great matching of words and illuminated beautifully by the illustration. Magic!!

I always picture English cottages looking like the home in your photo. Thanks for the great poem.
...And we need to listen to these houses!
Great poem.
That was lovely! I'd like to think that it applies to our cottage.
