Several years ago when the Home Depot Store came to our small town, we bought new outside carriage lamps for the porches.
They never made it further than the garage, until this weekend, when The First Sergeant felt a creative urge to break out the power tools.
It hangs to the right of the door, and will be turned on, just as a night light, since there are three overhead lights, already on the porch.
Not quite finished, it still needs caulking around the base, but getting there.

Ha Jo... You've heard the expression "When the spirit moves..." WELL--it may have taken some time, but it surely is pretty!!!!!! Guess it doesn't matter that the urge didn't come for awhile!!! ha
Hugs,
Betsy
It is a beautiful light! It looks wonderful!
I have been there so many times. Now that I am retired I can slide in to some of those to do things a lot easier. Your house with porch is beautiful and that light is fantastic. It looks good whether you ever get the caulking done or not.
John's been on Sykpe (spelling?) speaking to friends in England all day. I'm off to bed. How goes it your way?
Seems like there are some lovely nights sitting on the porch coming on :0)
Beautiful addition!
You have a very nice looking house. It looks very colonial. I can picture you sitting on the porch in white gloves, sipping lemonade and saying "Well I do declare..." to know on in particular. I always knew you were posh.
Love the light Jo, and your house too.
Betsy: Well, I'm glad something moved, I was ready to give the lamp to my daughter :)
The Retired One; Thank you, I like the little bubbles in the glass, it makes a lovely shadow on the wall at night.
L.D. Burgus: You are correct, it's hard to get stuck in, when you have to stop in the middle and pack everything up ready fro work the next day.
Patti Cakes: Oooh I heard a lot about Skpe just never tried it. I should.
Eternally Distracted: We like to sit around the back, but may start a new tradition ;)
Pastor Sharon: Thank you, it's old, but new ...lol
Dave Pie-N-Mash: Why whatever would give you that idea ?
Sippin lemonade eh ? I'd go for a brown ale :)
Donna: thank you, at least it will light the steps up at night, I'm always afraid someone will come acalling and fall over the flower pots ;)
Just think! They are now legitimate antiques, to work better with the look of the house! The First Sergeant really had your best interest in mind when he stored them to age properly! (sorry, it's a guy thing)
OMG!! I love your lights! They wouldn't fit on our house because of the space ... I LOVE your porch, so warm & inviting. TTFN ~Marydon
Jo,
Lovely porch!
Let there be light,
~D~
I really like them and the color.
Patsy
love the porch, love the light. Can I come and visit please?
We need a few sudden urges around here ;) Lovely view of the front of your house, so pretty and those hanging plants look lovely, along with all the others on the steps. The new light will be a great addition.
Tim: Hmmm I'll take your word for it...since you're a guy ;)
I never thought of them as antiques, so thanks for pointing that out !
Blushing Rose: It's not one of those HUGE lamps, at first it looked small, but seems to fit OK.
Diana: LOL....cute girlie!
Denise: We need more sudden urges also....new landscaping, painting, oh the list goes on and on.
Benny and Patsy: Yes, the finish on them is unusual, I was going to change it, but I'm beginning to like it.
Lakeland Jo: Pop on over anytime ;)
