The Dog Days Of Summer

Dog Days defines a time period or event that is very hot or stagnant, or marked by dull lack of progress. The name comes from the ancient belief that Sirius, also called the Dog Star, was somehow responsible for the hot weather.

Either way, we seem to have hit that mark.

As with most of the country we are under a heat advisory for the next week, 97 degrees and 115 degrees plus with the humidity factor figured in.
If you can avoid staying outside especially for long periods of time, then it is best to do so.

Even the birds have taken to their nests...……

Very beautiful and peaceful, even if it is on the hot side! :-)

Your photos are always so beautiful, and these, in the heat of summer are no exception. Must be all your diligent watering! Keep cool.

Your garden areas are looking so great. The heat does seem to stun the blooms and hopefully it cools down. Worked in high humidity today deadheading all of my rose bushes.

I come by for the "green porn", since we don't have that lush beautiful color here often. Your photos are always lovely!

What a lovely garden despite the heat. Mine stays lovely as long as I water when it starts drying out. Your clouds are magnificent. I see that sometimes when we are out driving. Even my dog drags along with his tongue hanging out the side of his mouth in this heat. I feel as if I'm doing the same thing when out with him :)

Is that a white hibiscus? Mine is pooping out - just got it in May. Any advice? Yours in full sun?

Those are Rose of Sharon shrubs they bloom most of July and August.
