Lest We Forget

"Your silent tents of green We deck with fragrant flowers;
Yours has the suffering been, The memory shall be ours."

~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

 Memorial Day: Arlington National Cemetery
They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
~ Laurence Binyon: For the Fallen 1914

It seems like we have forgotten these heroes. I like to study history and remembering the past helps us to remember those who have sacrificed their lives so we could live ours today.

Always - we remember these who gave all they had for the freedoms those of us back home are able to enjoy.

Thanks for the reminder. Unfortunately we are bombarded by commercials about barbeque and often forget the reason for Memorial Day.

We are suffering over here after the brutal murder of one of our soldiers on the streets of England last week. I fear we have an enemy within these days! It is good to have a special day when we remember the fallen recent and past. Thank you for your reminder. It is very appropriate.
