The Dog Days Of Summer

Dog Days defines a time period or event that is very hot or stagnant, or marked by dull lack of progress. The name comes from the ancient belief that Sirius, also called the Dog Star, was somehow responsible for the hot weather.
Either way, we seem to have hit that mark.

As with most of the country we are under a heat advisory for the next few days, 95 degrees and 100 degrees plus with the humidity factor figured in.
If you can avoid staying outside especially for long periods of time, then it is best to do so.

Even the birds have taken to their nests...……

Jo, It has been hot here also, but the past two days were not as humid. A blessings. We have not seen as many birds when it is so hot either. But when they get in the water around here they love it. Wishing you a cool off . Blessings, xoxo, Susie

Thank you for the lovely pictures. It's not hot here, but we are so fortunate to live in the Pacific Northwest where the summers are moderate.

I need to get out my bird bath. What rain puddles that we get just don't last long enough for the birds and little critters. Those clouds are gorgeous. Your Rose of Sharon is just like mine. Beautiful! You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

A beautiful post with the best of this hot season!

I'm hoping for good weather next week when I travel to your corner of the world for a little getaway.

Even in the Dog days of Summer, your yard looks cool and peaceful. It is so pretty. Looks like Russian Sage blooming in one of your pictures. I love it. I bought 2 pots of Russian Sage last week and have planted it in the yard along the path. Sure hope it makes it through these hot dry days.
