Rain-Less

The lack of rain in our fair city is causing the pastures to turn yellow.
The trees are stressed beyond measure, and I fear there will be a lot of replanting taking place in the early spring.
Burn bans have been issued across the state, but a careless cigarette tossed from a car window, can ignite a field fire and destroy hundreds of acres, in the process.

There is a stillness in the air, a slowing-down of sorts.
Nights are closing in fast, and darkness falls before the clock strikes seven.
Candlelight glows.

Jo, We sure could some rain here also. The farmer down on the corner is harvesting corn today. But today it is 66 at almost 1 o'clock. Hopefully we get some rain tomorrow. Hope you do too. I love the lamp in your window. Oh yes, the long sweet days of summer are gone. I always start counting the days till spring once old man winter has officially arrived. Oh why do I do that. It would be such fun to enjoy every single day...but I am a sunshine girl is a winter state. :) Blessings to you dear friend, xoxo, Susie

But it all still looks so beautiful. I'm anxious for a little cooler weather in NC! Happy weekend!

Here in Albuquerque we have had much more rain than we normally do....but it will never look as lush and green as your garden! My family in Texas is in desperate need of rain too. Let's hope everyone gets what they need!

I read somewhere that it is being called a "flash drought" in the entire southeast. I fear we are getting your excess rain. :-(

We need rain also although the little sprinkles we have had here and there has helped. I am noticing the shorter days also. When I get up at 6:00 a.m. I have to wait at least half an hour for it to get light. I'll bet that Black Tea and Amber candle smells wonderful!

I'm noticing the much shorter days too. I miss the daylight at 4"30 am, and in the evening till after 9 pm. I think we've lost about four or five hours of daylight so far. Boo Hoo. I too start counting down the days till Spring now. I love the season, but I don't like the cold weather. I hope you all get the rain that you need. I think we're down quite a bit on rain fall too. That amber and black tea candle sounds quite interesting. I'll bet it smells nice. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

I loved reading this...we are supposed to get rain but so far, none has come. I know things need it, but not sure the farmers here do. They were late getting crops in because of so much rain, and now are later than usual in the harvest. So it is a race against time. I love that third shot.

Autumn has come and with it the days get dimmer and the night begins to come early.

Have a nice week
