After Christmas Silence

The Christmas decorations have all been returned to their boxes for another year.
The house seems bare without all of the glitz and glamor, isn't it funny how you become used to the excess, in such a short time.
Shiny mercury candle holders and fairy lights are left in place, until the sunshine returns.
In just 77 short days, Spring comes calling.

We are gaining more than a minute of daylight every day at this time of year, and it makes me happy to think that before long, I'll see more light at the end of the day. Love your pretty pictures, Jo. :-)

Jo, I am also one who counts the days till spring. LOL. I am ready and praying it's way better than last year...too hot too soon. I want to see flowers again. I am also hoping our winter is mild this year. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

Love all your glittery squares. I,too, have put all away but the tree. And now we are in deep-freeze. :-(

Always a bit lonely when you put all the decorations away, like a good friend leaving after a visit.

Your collage is wonderful to see. We had a quiet Christmas so I will take things down gradually. Usually I take things down slowly as it is my job to declutter the house. I really like the red and green for the season.

Our living room is looking a little dull and bare too right now. Only 77 days! That sounds so encouraging! I raked leaves today and uncovered lots of Jonquils that have come through the ground. Hope they will be okay. I love all your pretty little pictures!

The House always seems cozier with the tree and Christmas decorations. We took down the tree as well as the outside decor... but left the front room as is until this weekend. Stretching it out as long as I can. Always love your pics!

I don't remove my crib etc, until 12th night..
A count of exactly 12 days from 25th December
arrives the 5th January. According to the Church
of England, Twelfth Night is 5 January, and the
day of Epiphany - when the three wise men came is
6th January...
Mind you..it has been known, that the crib stays a
few more weeks on...! It looks so nice..!

Yes, Willie, for many years my decorations have stayed up until the 6th of January, I was adamant about that. However, over the last couple of years, I have fallen short of my own rule, and started taking them down, a little here, a little there before that date, and yesterday there was one lonely snowman left on the porch :(
Happy New Year to you and yours !

What a beautiful mosaic! I put away my decorations yesterday and it does seem a little drab around here! But I'm sure I'll enjoy the simplicity for awhile! Happy new year!

Due to my stroke we had much less out this year. Still it seems strange now back to before.

with our 70 degree temps it hardly feels like winter. It is allergy season around here now.
