Tea And Scones

Some days it's good to do nothing. No deadlines to meet, no chores to complete, no lists to check twice.
A day for sipping cups of tea and curling up by the fireside with a portly feline or two at your side.
A gentle rain is falling as I type, a dark and cozy Autumn day, to be savored.
A simple day.

" The best kind of rain, of course, is a cozy rain.
This is the kind the anonymous medieval poet makes me remember, the rain that falls on a day when you'd just as soon stay in bed a little longer, write letters or read a good book by the fire, take early tea with hot scones and jam and look out the streaked window with complacency. "

We are to have heavy rain and strong winds tomorrow. I think I will have a cup of tea (or two) and curl up with a good book. You have put me into the mood!

Oh, I love the idea of a lazy day by the fire, reading a wonderful book. I don't have a fireplace, but I've got plenty of rain. Although tomorrow is supposed to be nice. I might have to find some outdoor activity! :-)

Ahhh…. tea with scones and jam...soft rain outside and a
longed-for, intentional carefree day with a bit of Grieg
in the background. Great suggestion, Jo.

Couldn't agree with you more. I try to reserve Sundays as my day off. Reading, tea, more reading... perfection.

Sounds wonderful. I often wonder though. If I never got off the couch....would anyone else do anything? Would someone else get supper would the house and garden ever get done.? So I feel that pressure always.........

Scones on a blue willow are a good thing too. We could use the rain and maybe Friday it will happen. Blue willow is one of my favorites even though ours are just reproductions.
