And The Rains Came

A cozy steady rain has fallen all day, reminding me of home in England.
There were several Fall festivals planned this weekend, but sadly were canceled due to the downpours.
I sat on the porch as the rain clattered on the tin roof, and reminded my husband, that no amount of rain would ever cause a cancelation of anything in England, it was just something we co-existed with,  umbrellas and rain shoes were always part of our daily lives.
No inconvenience,  just sharing this incredible planet, we all call "home"....

How beautiful is the rain!
After the dust and heat,
In the broad and fiery street,
In the narrow lane,
How beautiful is the rain!

How it clatters along the roofs,
Like the tramp of hoofs
How it gushes and struggles out
From the throat of the overflowing spout!

Across the window-pane
It pours and pours;
And swift and wide,
With a muddy tide,
Like a river down the gutter roars
The rain, the welcome rain!

~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

We had rain also. The church I attend had planned their annual picnic for today. No matter, we moved it inside and still had a wonderful time. I like the way the British think about rain.

We had several inches and then the cool came. Fall is definitely on the way.

I've never minded the rain...

My collies on the other hand, act like they are going to melt if they have to go outside in a rainstorm.

Fall has arrived here in Connecticut, and it feels soo good after all that humidity.

I love your rainy day pictures, and, of course, the Longfellow poem.

Jo, I woke up very early this Tuesday morning to the sound of thunder. I know the farmers around our area were in full harvesting mode. They will have to wait for some dryer days now. Hope you did some relaxing while it rained. It is cooler here today also. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

I thought you might see rain out there. Everything is green for sure. Our cold now is a bother. I am not wanting any snow at this time. I like the Longfellow poem.
