Mary Mary Quite Contrary

Our precious little great-granddaughter will be here in just five short weeks, we are beyond excited.
I have always loved traditional nursery rhymes, and remember learning them in nursery school at the tender age of four..
I believe they have led to my lifelong love and appreciation of poetry and prose.
I'm hoping little Ensley Kate, will share that same fondness.

Congratulations on your great-granddaughter! What a sweet book for her. I always loved nursery rhymes too. I think they are wonderful for a child.

What good news that a great grandchild is coming. I love this book. I saved all my children’s books and move them with us. I collect books that have great illustrations just because of their artistic value.

One of my favorite quotations is this:
"Child of pure unclouded brow and dreaming eyes of wonder,
Tho time be fleet and I and thou are half a life asunder,
They loving smile shall surely hail
The love gift of a fairy tale."

If memory serves, Robert Louis Stevenson wrote that.

How sweet it is!

I know you can't wait to hold her. You do have a rocking chair? :) I love nursery rhymes too and so did my mother. Not long before she died, I found her a big old Mother Goose nursery rhyme book. She enjoyed it so much.

Jo, Oh the excitement of a new baby and the great joy in our hearts to hold them. Reading or giving a gift of reading is the best. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
