News From Gobbler's Knob

It appears that winter is not yet over, according to the legendary groundhog Punxsutawney Phil.
Six more weeks and hopefully we'll be well on our way to warmer days and blue skies.

Yesterday I noticed how many birds had reappeared from their Winter nests, chirping and busying themselves about the landscape, the milder weather had stirred their feathered souls.

Today, they are silenced once again.

Tomorrow I will leave the especially wet and rainy Pacific Northwest for Florida and hopefully a nine-day vacation from it into sunshine! :-)

Brutal and cold in northeast NYS.......I am really not liking it this year. The cold seems to go right through me. Zero nights, and below......too much. Have to carry one of my chickens in every night, she is bound determined to freeze herself solid.

It's actually sunny and beautiful out today (65 F) here. The cats are all laying in the windows soaking up the sunshine. Since we're supposed to have 6 more weeks of winter, I'm guessing this good weather isn't going to last.

Jo, It's cold here this Monday morning. 9 degrees. Snow headed our way from the plains states. I hope it isn't much. I'd love to get my taxes done this week. LOL...just to be done with that experience. Blessings, stay warm, xoxo, Susie

Here in Indiana we too are still in the cold tundra of winter. We have a winter storm advisor out today, starting at 4pm and going until 2am tomorrow. Ah well, it's now February. Spring is beckoning from yonder way. xoxo

These cold winter days it seems like spring will never get here, but then really, the weeks are flying past, aren't they. Hard to believe how far gone Christmas is already. That Shepherd's pie on you last post looks soooo good. I've never tasted Shepherd's pie. I am still using your recipe for cornbread. It is the best! and that's from someone who grew up eating and making cornbread.
