Snow Day

Mother Nature threw down her blanket shortly after midnight, just in time for an artic blast moving through the area.
Our first snowfall of the year, magically transforming the landscape.
Soft, wet snowflakes shutting us off from our little world as we know it, cocooned in a blanket of white.
Silenced.

Out of the bosom of the air,
Out of the cloud-folds of her garment shaken,
Over the woodlands, brown and bare
Over the harvest-fields forsaken,
Silent, and soft, and slow
Descends the snow.

~~By Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.~~

Beautiful! We have snow too and the coldest it's been in Missouri for years!!! Lots of hot tea drinking and sewing going on here! I'm wearing extra sweaters and sometimes wearing a robe over my clothes. Keep warm.

Thank you for your beautiful photos. I've read your blog for years and now that I had to move into a city, I really appreciate pictures from the countryside. Happy New Year! Denise

Snow makes for some beautiful pictures. We had a little snow around Canton, TX last night, but it missed Dallas. It is COLD though... staying below freezing today and supposedly going down to between 5 and 15 F tonight. Need to put some extra boxes and blankets out for the ferals...

Jo, It looks nice because it's not so much and the wind isn't howling. But I am glad you have a warm house, with some tea and a sweet cat or two to hug for warmth. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

The quiet that snow brings is one of the nicest things about it. The shoveling, not so much.

Jo, you write beautifully! The snow is so pretty. The snow is falling here now...started about two hours ago. Poppy just got a fire going in the fireplace. I just might make a pan of fudge, and gain another pound!

If this is your first snow for the year then you really probably are liking the situation. I am tired of snow but when there is a fresh new layer out there I really like it again. Great photos.

Beautiful! We also got beautiful snow that covered our hills in Kentucky and Southern Indiana! It's nature's way of making us slow down...I love it.
