Winter Days

We are surely in the nesting phase , cold, cold and more cold.......
The kind of cold that makes you want to snuggle inside, and cocoon from the outside world.
Stay safe and warm friends.

"Surely everyone is aware of the divine pleasures which attend a wintry fireside; candles at four o’clock, warm hearthrugs, tea, a fair tea-maker, shutters closed, curtains flowing in ample draperies to the floor, whilst the wind and rain are raging audibly without."
 ~ Thomas De Quincey 1796

Thomas dear Quincey said it beautifully in 1796. And still it is today.
Raining here today. I am sitting by the fire listening to the rain outside. So happy to be inside and warm and cosy.

You paint quite the pretty picture of a wintry night, Jo!

You got that right, Jo. The whole of the East Coast and much of the Midwest is definitely in the throes of winter! :-)

Aware! So aware....
Even so, the reminders are soothing to my soul. ♥

Jo, This little paragraph says it all for us right here today. I am longing to walk around the yard or a sit on the porch...but that will not be happening for some time....bitter cold and has been for days and more days to come. Stay warm and be safe if you have to go outside. Blessings and hugs for a great new year. xoxo, Susie

This paints such an accurate picture. I traveled to that cozy room as I read that quote. It is quite cold here and no relief in sight. Stay warm.

Hi there! Temps in the teens here. My kitties and I have been spending time nesting about. A good book, warm shawl, and cozy nook have been my constant on this day. The Brambley Hedge image has always been a favorite and the quote invokes a beautiful sense of peace and comfort during these blustery cold days. Stay warm, cozy, and blissful!

The quote is so great and the illustration does a good job of making one feel safe and warm. Our temperatures tomorrow are going to be unbearable. I do think we will have to spend time having tea and cakes next to the fireplace.

Please do put the kettle on! But I'll drink my tea here by the fireplace *virtually* having tea with you. This freezing arctic weather is nothing to go out in. Staying home where it's warm, safe, and comfy is the way to go. Love the picture!

That's the sweetest picture and words. I can almost feel the warmth from that fire. Oh my, it has been cold everywhere. It did warm up a little here yesterday and today, but another cold front coming in tomorrow. Supposedly not getting above freezing for the next ten days. I just might go build a fire!!
