Autumn's Calling

Despite sultry August days, subtle signs of changing seasons are all around.
Summer days are noticeably shorter. There is a cooler rush to the evening air.
Down on  main street the shopkeepers are displaying their Autumn flowers, and the feel of changing seasons is afoot.
The Summer's Gold Lantana blooms heartily,  as if it knows Summer's loveliest smile, is fleeting.

The leaves on my cottonwood tree are sure dropping their leaves earlier than usual. I wasn't home during the eclipse yesterday. Did you notice any difference in the creatures?

There's a tree on Main Street that has lost nearly all its leaves already! We are most definitely seeing the early signs of fall here on the mountain top - nights have been cool, perfect sleeping weather!

That autumn smile is gorgeous. Lovely to have in your garden.
Our days have got a little shorter and a cooler front has just blown in. Summer is not over yet but at least we can see the end is in sight. September and October are the best months of the year...after May.

Your photos are always lovely. It is roasting hot here today. A heat advisory is out. A/C is running at full blast. But... we are told that this is the last hot day for awhile and temperatures are actually dropping into the 70s later this week. I'm enjoying it while I can. I love summer and fall. Winter... well, that's another story.

I can feel summer waning, but it's still awfully warm outside. I see signs of fall everywhere, too. Love your pictures, as always. :-)

Some of our trees are dropping their leaves already , too. Some of my flowers have bloomed their last. I'm not in favor of wishing my life away but I'm sure ready for college football, mums , pumpkins and cooler days.

It is so pretty there, and I can see the look of fall in the colors. Once we are into hot humid August, I start looking forward to fall and cool weather.

When we travel west out of town there is one maple that is totally changed for fall color. I don't understand how one or two change early but they will al be beautiful in a few weeks.
