List-Ticking

Long summer days, lend hope to ticking off some of those ' to-do ' chores around the place.
The head gardener and I painted my little potting shed this week,  it soaked up the paint like a giant sponge.
Hopefully, it won't need another coat for a decade or more.
Several of the perennials have already stopped blooming for the season, and others are just arriving.
We'll be pulling, and weeding, and digging and tending, until the first frost arrives.

I spent the day at my daughter's hobby farm yesterday, she's having a clean-out, seems we always accumulate too much stuff !
We are open to suggestions :)

The donkeys followed us as we drove up on the hill, hoping we were carrying vanilla wafers, they will do anything for a handful.
Inside the barn,  the swallows' nests are filled with babies. Such a sweet sight, watching those little yellow beaks appearing over the nests, when their parents were within earshot.

Nature never fails to renew my spirit.

Gardening sure is hard work, but it's so worth it, isn't it? I would love to have more time off in the summer in order to get some of the chores crossed off my to do list....sadly, that's my busiest season so there's no chance of taking extra days off!

Oh Jo, your garden is beautiful. I would love to see the donkeys everyday. Gracie always got carrots, graham crackers and apples. What a beautiful sky. Those clouds are gorgeous.

Your garden is worth all that hard work. Must be a joy to sit back and admire the results.

Jo, Those little donkeys are so cute. :):) I loved all your beautiful pictures. Weeding is something I am liking less and less. LOL Our shed needs some paint also. I may have to do some of that this fall. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

How beautiful! Do you think your daughter would rent me a room in the big old barn with the donkeys? :) Doesn't a new coat of paint just change everything! We've got to paint our little red shed again. Your posts are always amazing.

I don't have room in my back yard for a garden shed but we were able to wall off one end of a large utility room. By adding an outside door I had the perfect garden room. Plenty of room for my work table, yard equipment, Terra cotta pots, and potting soil , etc. When I painted it I made a very very poor color choice -- turquoise! What was I thinking? Two coats of Kilz, two coats of a good paint in white, and 4 days later, I love my garden room. I had found an antique door with an oval glass in it. Lots of natural light so the turquoise should have been fine. But I have a lot of trees in the yard so not much natural light. Anyway, it's all good now. I , too , hope this paint job last at least a decade. I don't have it in me to do that again.

Your shed looks wonderful. I am losing my shed but I will be ok with that. They get to paint it, those who purchase the place. Your daughters hobby farm is so wonderful to see. You again took so really wonderful garden shots at both places.
