Our Iris have finally bloomed.
It seems as though they are always late bloomers, long after most others in the neighborhood have put on their Spring show, ours slowly awaken.
They are from antique Iris stock, handed down from family member, to family member, these particular flowers being over a half a century old.
Tended with love and shared amongst the generations, from great grandmother, to great granddaughter.

The Tennessee State Flower
May your blooms be floriferous and in good form,
Distinctive, with good substance, flare, and airborne,
With standards and falls that endure, never torn.
May you display many buds and blooms sublime,
In graceful proportion on strong stalks each day,
Gently floating above the fans and the fray.
May you too reach toward the moon and stars,
Bloom after bloom, many seasons in the sun,
Enjoying your life, health, and each loved one,
Until your 'living days are artfully done.

Love them, sure miss my Iris garden. We do have some here but
not the same.
Just have to watch your lovely flowers grow.
Mine are blooming, but that one is especially beautiful.
My mother-in-law and I just dug a ton of her iris's (not blooming her yet) as her garden was over packed. She sent me home with boxes of them. One came from a dear friend of her 60 years ago! and she was quite definite that I had to plant that one away from all the others so it could grow and flourish. Your photos, as always, are wonderful.
Beautiful! Grew up in TN! Love the iris. Very special flower to hand down. Yours is gorgeous. Save one for me!
Ours are barely out of the ground!
Very beautiful Iris !
JO, I love the history of your irises. Absolutely love it. I have some white irises, they have not bloom here yet. Blessings, enjoy this day. xoxo, Susie
Just beautiful! :-)
Your irises are beautiful. Mine have not bloomed yet. At all! I too have antique irises handed down through generations. Maybe there's something different about them.
What beautiful treasures the iris are! I miss having them in my garden, and need to add them. I also love the verse, that fits your post perfectly!
Lovely colours and rare to I bet.

This is one of my favorite iris. You have just reminded me that I need to move some of this that I have from my mom's place.
