Less Of Me

It seems as though the entire family is trying to diet.
After many long weeks of nesting, and partaking of comfort foods, more than a few pounds have crept up on us.
It's all so depressing, I'm only hoping that these days ahead of sunshine and warm weather, will encourage more time spent outside moving, and less time sitting.

'Til They're Clean And Sparkly

I've been busy doing a little spring cleaning.
A sink full of  warm sudsy water, and anything within reach gets a turn.
By the time I get through washing everything, it will be time to start all over again.
Oh, dear.

Smitten

I could happily spend the remainder of my days, idling away the hours, in this gorgeous little cottage.
                                                                           *sigh*

On Patrol

A cheeky little raccoon showed up on the porch last night.
I'm sure he was in search of food or using the pond as his personal drinking fountain.
Oliver was not amused.

Plodding Along

New gardening shoes, and as they say here in these parts....'my others are plumb wore out.'
I'm still using a walking stick around the garden, steady as you go kind of approach, but I get there in the end.

Once Upon A Time

🐇🐇

A new Peter Rabbit book, my favorite Beatrix Potter tale.
A thick little board book, eagerly awaiting tiny hands to someday turn its leaves.

February Rain

Our start to the weekend has been a wet one.
Rain, and more rain.
Perfect for spending a cozy day inside, and nesting, because tomorrow it's supposed to soar to 74 degrees and I feel my gardening shoes calling .......

Hello Sunshine

The sun returned today.
A balmy 70 degrees worth of the stuff, bathing our winter souls in some much needed warmth.
I tidied the potting shed, and pottered around in the garden, the warmth on my face felt exhilarating.
There are new plant shoots poking out of the soil, I trust they know that winter is not yet over.
The Saucer Magnolia trees are in bloom......in early February !
Oliver snoozed.

Granddaughter Time

I spent the afternoon with my beautiful granddaughter.
She found one of the sweetest boutiques, their inventory mostly farmhouse style and shabby chic.
I think I could have spent the entire day there, everything beautifully displayed, and the owner a delight.
I had a little splurge, buying several items, this new farmhouse soap dish being one of them.
And brown-paper wrapped lavender bouquets, whose scent wafts gently throughout the house and makes me smile.

Guess Who's Been To Dinner ?

Just as the Arborvitaes were beginning to fill out from their last deer pruning, those naughty deer returned under the cover of darkness, and helped themselves.
How does something possess such beauty and grace, yet be so menacing.
It's a constant battle of us vs them.
So far they are the winners.

Winter Nights

So the news from Gobbler's Knob is six more weeks of winter.
A few more days to pretend there isn't anything awaiting your attention.
And then once the sunshine returns, it's all hands on deck.
