A Christmas Spirit-Lifter

When the weather turns chilly, and I'm looking for something to stir my Christmas spirit, I make a batch of Spiced Tea.

The combination of oranges, cinnamon and cloves are a delight to the senses, perfect for sipping fireside late evening, and watching the Christmas tree twinkling in the dark..

Spiced Tea Mix

    2 cups Sugar
2 cups of orange Tang
3/4 cup instant tea
1 envelope Kool-Aid Lemonade
1 tsp. cinnamon
1-1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1-1/2 tsp. ground ginger

Combine sugar, tea, tang, lemonade mix, cinnamon, ginger and cloves in a medium mixing bowl; stir well.
Pour into a 1-pint wide-mouth jar with tight-fitting lid.

Use 2-3 teaspoons in a cup of  boiling water.

This recipe has inspired me to make a Greek version! Can't get tang, instant tea or kool aid so I'll have to use my imagination but it sounds wonderful. I have been making mulled wine. Tea is for all the day.

Jo, I recently had my first taste of this and it was really good. My sister gave me a jar full and the only difference was she added red hots to her mix. Yum.

Sounds delicious, even though I don't usually drink tea. :-)

Now I want to put some orange, cinnamon and cloves on to simmer, on the stove! For the delightful aroma of it.

Happy, Happy Full December Moon Before Yule tonight!

Thanks for the recipe. I remember people making it and never really knew what was in it. It is good to sip when it is cold and the tree lights are glowing.

and I just got home from the grocery store! :) I really want to try this. We are going to my daughter's for Christmas. Maybe she will have a cup with me. Thank you for the recipe.

Can you still buy Tang? It was a standard in our household. Did you know that Tang went to the moon with the astronauts? I will have to return to your recipe and so that I can make some for the holidays, too.

I didn't know you could still buy Tang either. We used to make this hot spiced tea years ago when my kids were little. It was really good!
