Farm Fresh Eggs

One of the perks of my daughter's little farm, are the daily fresh eggs.
She shares them with family and friends alike.
If you've never tasted a farm fresh egg, you are missing out, those store bought eggs are just not all they are cracked-up to be.
*giggle*

Farm-fresh eggs have one-third less cholesterol, a quarter less saturated fats and twice as many omega three fatty acids, than store-bought eggs.
They also have more vitamin A and E and seven times more beta carotene.
And more important, the chickens are raised humanely.

Egg-gathering always seems to draw a crowd.

What fun! I've been interested in living on a farm, but I must admit the city life has made me long for a peaceful place to put up my feet. My husband grew up raising his own hogs and chickens with eggs to "crack." That would be a dream for him.

All our chickens are gone now, but I do miss their eggs. They actually turned a cheesecake yellow. Many of them were pets.

That picture of the donkeys is adorable! I am proud owner of pet chickens, some are marans, some are regional old breed. Since I have them, I cannot eat any egg from the shelve anymore. Only family and friends have the benefit as I would never kill any of my hens, even if they don't lay anymore. I read recently that a supermarket egg here is in average 46 days old before it gets sold...

You don't have to convince me on farm fresh eggs, for they are the standard here. I sell my extras to friends where I used to work. They love the fresh eggs. We enjoy our hens. The little donkeys are such cuties. Like the egg basket, too.

the only way I can get farm fresh eggs is from the Farmers' Market. I do make an effort to get humanely raised chicken eggs at the store, though. :-)

We have a lot of sources where we can by farm eggs. I didn't know that they were so much better but I can see that they are. I think our farm eggs too are from chickens that are free ranging.
