Summer's Waning

Summer days are noticeably shorter. There is a cooler rush to the evening air.
Down on  main street the shopkeepers are displaying their Autumn flowers, and the feel of changing seasons is afoot.
The Summer's Gold Lantana blooms heartily,  as if it knows Summer's loveliest smile, is fleeting.

It was nearly dark by 8:20 last evening. We've had unusual cooler weather (usually in the 100's) and I can feel it too. Just love fall, but hate the winter. I do love that little wall.

Yes it's getting darker here in the UK too. I really miss those long summer light nights. We're lucky though we're having the hottest days of summer, a whole 23 degrees today but it won't last!

We had over a week of mostly rain and cloudy days. Now we are back to the upper 90's and a harsh sun. I haven't noticed the days growing shorter but that's because of the clouds. WE even had a few days where the high was in the 70's and that was great because usually in August, we don't go below 80 at night. Sure did enjoy it.

I'm sorry to leave the summer. It's been lovely this year. But I do love the autumn. It's just that winter that bothers me. Well, liking 3/4 of the year isn't bad.

Your Lantana is lovely. Mine here in Texas has no blooms. Too hot this year? Who knows...we're thinking of moving over to Tennessee soon.

We had a few cooler mornings here, too! Today was hot and humid again but the days are noticeably shorter! I love fall...can't wait!

How beautiful though, it has indeed been a glorious summer.

The dragonflies are fewer on the ponds and some of the birds are already gone south for the year.

Lovely photo.

I hate to wish time away - but I am truly looking forward to cooler, fall weather. I am, however, making a point to savor the late summer lushness and color in the landscape.
