Motionless

The first week of August hangs at the very top of summer, the top of the live-long year, like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning. The weeks that come before are only a climb from balmy spring, and those that follow a drop to the chill of autumn, but the first week of August is motionless, and hot. It is curiously silent, too, with blank white dawns and glaring noons, and sunsets smeared with too much color. Often at night there is lightning, but it quivers all alone. "

Are the white flowers cosmos, Jo? August looks good from there.

That is such an appropriate quote to bring in August, one of my favorite months. And it's so true also. Love the flowers. I've never seen any like them before.

Great quote..that movie was filmed not 45 mins from me..looks like you're all having a nice summer..altho it's going by too fast to keep up with for me..I'll be happy to see the pumpkins too..and as always the Christmas tree..enjoy the rest of these long days..they'll be short lived as well now..unless of course your state doesn't turn the clock back..I wish ours did not.....Wende
