Through Bare Trees

Through bare trees.

I can see all the rickety lean-tos
and sheds, and the outhouse
with the half-moon on the door,
once modestly covered in
summer's greenery.

Through bare trees
I can watch the hawk
perched on a distant branch,
black silhouetted wings
shaking feathers and snow,
and so can its prey.

Through bare trees
I can be winter's innocence,
unashamed needfulness,
the thin and reaching limbs of a beggar,
longing to touch
but the hem of the sun."-

~ Lisa Lindsey, Bare Trees

Oh, I loved watching the Queen's Garden. And Downton Abbey. Thank for telling me about it.

Love the poem! We've just remarked recently how much more we are seeing through the bare trees.

Tweedles -- that's me said...

Isn't winter so beautiful?

Loved today's photo. Makes me want to throw on some boots and take a walk down that beautiful dirt road! Loved it so much...it's now on my desktop! Always makes me homesick...

That picture shows the beauty of winter's bare branches, Jo. Just lovely. :-)

The picture and the poem are beautiful. I need to appreciate, and see the beauty of winter more.
