Season Of Mists And Mellow Fruitfulness

A heavy fog had started to roll in before we turned in for the night, and by morning light it was difficult to see beyond a few yards.
I watched as the dewy blanket fell to the ground, illuminated by the porch lights, how can something be so treacherous, and yet so magical ?

The day has warmed to a balmy 76 degrees, and out of the blue, an invasion of Ladybugs ( Ladybirds for my readers across the pond), have emerged.
Literally hundreds of them.
I have a suspicion the State beetle just wanted to show off their Halloween costumes.

Autumn's First Frost

Frost on the pumpkin last night.
'Tis the season of woolly socks and flip-flops.

"The hazy, cloudless skies of Indian Summer.
Leaves scurrying down the street before the wind.
The cold shiver from an arctic blast.
Indian Summer. The last warmth of the sun.
Chilly mornings and glorious warm afternoons.
The Harvest Moon. The Hunter's Moon. The Rainy Season.
Dry corn stalks clattering in the wind.
The touch of frost on grass and window pane.
The smell of burning leaves."

Gossamer Threads

"The milkweed pods are breaking,
And the bits of silken down
Float off upon the autumn breeze
Across the meadows brown."

~ Cecil Cavendish, The Milkweed

Purrfect

For Miss Mollie....

Gentle eyes that see so much,
paws that have the quiet touch,
Purrs to signal "all is well"
and show more love than words could tell.
Graceful movements touched with pride,
a calming presence by our side --
A friendship that takes time to grow -
Small wonder why we love them so.

Autumn Mist

I saw old Autumn in the misty morn
Stand shadowless like silence, listening
To silence, for no lonely bird would sing
Into his hollow ear from woods forlorn,
Nor lowly hedge nor solitary thorn;—
Shaking his languid locks all dewy bright
With tangled gossamer that fell by night,
Pearling his coronet of golden corn.

~Thomas Hood : Autumn (1798-1845)

Best Friends Forever

Let me introduce you to my precious niece from England, Mollie.
It was her first time visiting to America, in fact her first time flying on a jet-plane, across the Atlantic ocean, all to attend my granddaughter's wedding.
It made the entire occasion, extra special.

Very quickly Mollie and Oliver cat soon became the best of friends, he followed her everywhere.
Enjoying all the attention, hourly groomings, and more cat treats than he could have ever imagined.

They became inseparable.

He tried to keep up, but oftentimes the excitement overwhelmed him.

His BFF has sadly returned across the ocean, and Oliver has taken to laying beneath the bushes and awaiting her return .

He misses her terribly......we all do.
Hurry back Miss Mollie !
