By The Light Of The Silvery Moon

Slowly, silently, now the moon
Walks the night in her silver shoon;
This way, and that, she peers, and sees
Silver fruit upon silver trees;
One by one the casements catch
Her beams beneath the silvery thatch;
Couched in his kennel, like a log,
With paws of silver sleeps the dog;
From their shadowy coat the white breasts peep
Of doves in a silver-feathered sleep;
A harvest mouse goes scampering by,
With silver claws, and silver eye;
And moveless fish in the water gleam,
By silver reeds in a silver stream.

I LOVE that poem, I had it on my blog once. Walter De La Mare has a way of saying the things I think in such a romantic way. This is one of my most favourites

Such beautiful verse. It makes me think of a Rich Mullins song that begins, "The moon is a sliver of silver like the shaving that fell on the floor of a carpenter's shop." You share such beauty, in words and photos, on your blog. Thanks!
