Winter Days

The recipe books are once again sitting snugly on their shelves, instead of being strewn about the kitchen counter tops.
It's a ritual I go through every holiday. Drag out the recipe books, and yet make the same tried amd tested dishes as the year before.
Tradition prevails.

We're  having a blast of Arctic weather blow through today, there's whispers of the "S" word in the forecast.
I'm leaving the tartan tablecloth in place for a little while longer, the colors warm and inviting, giving dull Winter days, a much needed splash of vibrancy.

It's the perfect weather on a late blustery afternoon for indulging in lots of tea, and enjoying a shortbread biscuit or two.

"Come along inside... We'll see if tea and buns can make the world a better place."

~ Kenneth Grahame, "The Wind in the Willows"

Yum!! Tea and a bun. You may need to pull the cookbooks out if the "S" stuff heads your way. You will want to make a soup or stew. Have a wonderful day.

Walker's are my favorite too. Just had one this morning. My dining room table, cleared off for the holidays, is today, once more, going to be covered with paints, paper, paintbrushes, photos and what have you. Wish I could keep it cleared, but it is the only place with the right light and where I can spread it all out.

A cup of tea always makes a day better and a sweet just adds to the pleasure.

Why, of course I'd love a cup of tea and a biscuit - or two.:-) The temps weren't as cold as expected last night, but that "S" word is in our forecast as well. Stay safe and warm!

Tea and buns always make it a better place, especially when shared with friends. It was 75 here in Texas today and supposed to drop to the 50s tomorrow - we've had a strange winter so far.

Brought a huge smile to my face to see that Yorkshire Tea packaging!... As a Yorkshire lass living in Tennessee, it's a staple I couldn't do without and I'm glad I'm not the only one!

I had to laugh,me too. I get out all these books at the holidays and buy new ones. When it comes down to it we love our traditonal meals so much we cant change it. So one of my resolutions for this year is to do one new recipe a week. So far they have not come from my books but from blogs. Cant give up my love of books though

Tea and Buns can always make the world a better place! I love that tea box, it is so "English" and shortbread is my favorite cookie Our weather here in the Eastern part of the state has been frigid too, I like it.
