Purple Delight

As if by request, the Clematis has started to bloom, just in time for Easter.
The canes are heavy with new buds, hopefully in the next week, it will gift us with a showy display.

And Spring arose on the garden fair,
Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth's dark breast
Rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.
~Percy Bysshe Shelley, "The Sensitive Plant"

My clematis are all blooming early, but your vine looks so healthy. I think you will have lots of blooms. Some say deadhead them for summer blooms but others say leave the ragged tops for interest in the garden.

What a gorgeous Clematis. They have a nifty trick in my garden of creeping around without me noticing then exploding into flower when you least expect it.

I love seeing all of your spring pictures - you are just a couple of states south of me and therefore a little bit ahead; it's like a taste of what's coming!

They are so beautiful! Is everything early in your part of the country? We are right on time here in the PNW.

I have to admit, that I totally forgot about Clematis blooming until yesterday when I saw the buds on mine--I'm excited that mine is going to have flowers on it this year, last year was a hard year for it because of the dreaded stink-bug and my over use of an insecticide.

Oh Clematis! Ours were blooming at the cabin last week and were loaded with more blooms to come. Too bad we're staying in town this weekend. I hope I don't miss too many.
