Pull Up A Chair

Goodness the weather has turned bitterly cold.
The sun has shone all day long, but the wind has been horrendous, and temperatures have barely made it over the freezing mark.
We had a similar weather pattern last year, all the spring bulbs had popped up their shoots, and then along came snow.....

It's been a good day to stay close by the hearth side, indulge in a bowl of homemade soup, and enjoy the company of a portly cat by your side.

Hope you are all having a warm and snugly weekend.

Jo, I've missed your last few posts and am glad on a cold night in Virginia I get the chance to catch up on your beautiful blog. I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend...But I'm glad you also have the warmth of your precious Oliver during a sad time, and on a cold night...Take care and stay warm!!

Ah now, I would love to pull a chair up to that wonderful fire. I can almost feel cozy warmth of the hot embers. Okay Jo, put the kettle on, I'll be right on over ;)

p.s. bitterly cold here tonight too, and I can hear the wind outside as I type.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. Here it's been -12C at night, with a daytime maximum of around -3C for the past 2 weeks. Beautiful - but not warm!

I am sitting here in a flannel nightgown, with socks on my feet, the dogs are wrapped in blankets under my elbow and I am holding my hands out to your fire. ahhhh. this is FLORIDA for Pete's sake. it is 38 and the wind is howling and feels like 18 out there. this too shall pass.

Thank goodness for central heating. I rarely have time to sit by the fire.

We are all very cold here in Kentucky. Wild wind and chilly temps. Possibly more snow on the way. Brrrr....

We've had a fire going and the soup pot on all weekend. After a long mild spell, we are expecting winter precipation (snow/sleet) tomorrow morning! I'll be cuddling with my ginger cats--remind me of your Oliver!

I built a fire yesterday evening, went in and grabbed a cup of coffee only to return to a dog in my favorite chair and other two dogs and the cat curled up in front of the fire. I went and sat in the kitchen to drink my coffee and read the paper.

I passed this magnolia tree in the neighborhood and realized the white
spots along the branches were blossoms..this time of year?.. well, it had been quite warm.
Now with the frigid weather, I am
afraid to look at that glorious
tree, for fear we shall have a
repeat of that former year when all the blossoms shriveled in their
bursting.
Glad the kettle is on...I've got
the scones all packed in the basket
ready to deliver.

Been very cold here, warmer today but set to drop again tomorrow. At least it is above freezing though which helps.
