A Host Of Golden Daffodils

Oh, the very delight of daffodils in bloom, the seasons rewaken.

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling leaves in glee;
A poet could not be but gay,
In such a jocund company!
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud ~William Wordsworth ( 1804 )

Daffodils are so special as they do give us our first hope of the flowering season.

I was out and about today and noticed all the blooms! I also saw some trees that were budding out, forsythia in full glory, and a couple bushes with pink blossoms. Now it's getting chilly with that cold front coming, too bad :( My Naked Ladies are in full foliage, I wonder if they will bloom this summer, after they freeze off?

I love Daffies, they are the most cheerful flowers aren't they? They grow on mass in my garden too - but I have six months to wait...

This is still one of my favorite poems and I can recite it
from memory.
Our dafs are in bud they should be in bloom soon,very early for us as they do not usually bloom till April.

mother had a yard full of these beauties but in the south we call them jonquils. she had them in a window box outside her kitchen window, so she could look at them while she did her dishes.

Silly Daffs. Mine are up too. They're my favorite. I hope we don't get another hard freeze... my fingers are crossed.

This makes me want to head to Tennessee and see those flowers! I am on my way to Floriday in a couple of weeks; maybe I'll see some there!

Hi Jo, Beautiful Daffodils. And I love the Wordsworth poem... VERY nice!

Hope our low temperatures this weekend don't kill all of the new spring growth/plants/flowers... I'm worried since they say our temp could go down to 10 degrees tomorrow night. GADS!!!

Have a good weekend and stay WARM.
Hugs,
Betsy

Our daffodils here in KY are also starting to show-- and our crocus are in full bloom-- I think they are in for a rude awakening here over the next few days--
Hate to see them freeze---

It's just been such a mild winter here!

Beautiful photos--
