Spring Thoughts

Surely we are getting closer....
The Robins are in abundance, busily pulling the earthworms from the moist soil, the nests are getting feathered, the Pussy Willow buds are awaking.
Not long now.

"No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow."

No robins here, yet. No buds, either. Or maybe I haven't been looking closely enough. I know it can't be long now...

We're seeing signs of Spring up here on the Plateau as well. I just hope Winter doesn't stage a late comeback.

Your photos are so beautiful. I have made two trips to Devon, England last June and in Sept.....what lovely land and I think you miss your England. I too am a cat lover and have had several ginger cats. I miss the clotted cream teas and the cows and sheep, but most of all I miss my Giles who lives in Devon.

"O Wind, if Winter comes,
can Spring be far behind?"

Still more soup to be made
and warmth to be spread, but
Spring, indeed, will come.

I'm getting so excited for spring and it feels like it is just around the corner! We'ver really not had much of a winter here compared to last year at this time with 14 inches on the ground!

Hi Jo, I'm afraid that we will have an early spring.. BUT--I'm also remembering the spring of 2007 when we had a horrible freeze AFTER everything budded and bloomed. We lost everything that year... Hope that doesn't happen again this year...

Beautiful GREEN picture...

Hugs,
Betsy

At least you've had a winter...spring is so special to those who've had a time of cold! I've had my AC on way more than my heat this winter! Just doesn't feel right!

Jo, the wild jonquils are blooming along the roads so I know spring is near. I'll have to go into the woods to see if there are any wild onions for my chicken's eggs. And, I am turning over the compost and adding ammendments. Though our winter has been mild and dry( thank goodness) I can't wait for spring. Beans were delicious.

We know that spring will eventually come, but the waiting is not always easy.

I'm looking forward to spring too Jo. It's actually been a very nice winter here so far with warm sunny days. That's supposed to change tonight with rain changing to snow over night and a 60% chance of snow tomorrow. I won't complain as we need the moisture...especially the farmers...I'm not looking forward to the mess though! I hope your day has been a good one so far..enjoy your evening.
Maura :)
