Winter Rain

The weather has warmed.
The rain has washed away any signs of lingering snow and ice.
The Robins are feeding on earthworms, the ground once again soft and wet.
A dark and cozy Winter day, to be savored.

" The best kind of rain, of course, is a cozy rain.
This is the kind the anonymous medieval poet makes me remember, the rain that falls on a day when you'd just as soon stay in bed a little longer, write letters or read a good book by the fire, take early tea with hot scones and jam and look out the streaked window with complacency. "

Hello Jo! Rain mixed with snow and ice here in Virginia--It would have been a nice day to stay home, but I had to work...I do hope you're having a good day!!

What a warm and welcoming post. I love wintry days (when I don't have to go anywhere), to curl up in a comfy chair with a cup of tea and a good book, and my chocolate digestives ;)

It's KIND of that type of day here...although the drizzle wasn't energetic enough to do away with the snow....and the freeze that is to come will cause it all to be dangerously slippery...Certainly a day to pass as you suggest :)

A gentle rain or a lightly falling snow with a fire in the fireplace and a good book....is pure heaven to me. I like the fireplace in your side bar and with your snow floating down you win the cozy blog award. :)

Hi Jo, We too are having that light, cold, winter rain up here. It is melting away all of the remaining snow--but they say we may get more snow on Thurs....?????

Enjoy your day and stay cozy and warm.
Hugs,
Betsy

Not much rain here, just a heavy fog. Our snow is all gone and the pond is thawing nicely.

It's been raining here for so long, I guess you could call it a cozy rain. I'm inside all warm and snug...

Jo,
What a wonderful post. This past three day weekend I had originally planned all sort of gardening adventures and a few indoor to appease the misses. But with the constant rain I built up a store of firewood in the deacons bench and we two cozied up in our woolies and a good book each, reading for hours by the fire as though we had nary a care in the world. It was grand!

Ah, it's been raining all day here. I put on a bit pot of beans and cornbread for dinner.

Stay warm and dry!

We were doing just that this morning: reading by the fire with tea and breakfast - not scones, but close! Your blog is my favourite place to come for snuggly warmth.

Yep, it's raining in Knoxville too. I don't mind the rain cos I'm English. In fact, I quite like it and yes, today I've read my book, sipped endless cups of tea and wrote a long letter to my friend back home.
Loved your post today.

Lovely post ! Robins are my favorite bird they are a sign for us that spring has sprung as thats when they return to our neck of the woods.
Here we are getting rain, snow and sleet now, the temp is up and down. But on those gloomy days a pot of tea and our favorite treats to go with it make it so much better ! Have a good day !

I'm glad you and I are both feeling better. :) Hopefully we can get our lives and houses back in order soon! ha.

We have rain, too, and half of our snow is gone.

The still life setting with tea pot is so beautiful in the window. We unfortunately are getting extremely cold. It is snowing this evening giving us a new white covering. Enjoy the tea, you live the good life.

Oh yes...I know that kind of rain. I'll be staying in but not because of rain ...although they have predicted freezing drizzle before our snow hits. I think I'm ready for spring. Love your teapot Jo. Enjoy your day.

We had rain overnight Monday and Tuesday nights although it wasn't in the forecast for last night. Surprise, but lovely to fall asleep to.

Lovely, as usual!

Ta! Hugs ...

We took a trip to Hawaii, and one day was cool, gray and rainy. The waitress at our favorite coffeeshop called it a pajama day. "You know, you spend all day in your pajamas and take naps."

If we did that here in the Willamette valley, we would never get ANYTHING done, and we'd have to buy a whole lot more pajamas.

That was lovely. Thankfully it's been sunny here today for a change. I don't mind the cold if I see some sunshine.

I like that pyjama day idea that Roxie mentioned. I have the pyjamas on a lot at weekends but I don't sleep!
