Run Afowl

An antique Canadian goose decoy, a surprise gift from my daughter at Christmas.
Sadly no mate was available, we're hoping he'll attract one.

Poor goose that falls for him. Talk about an unresponsive mate!

You want Canada Honkers, we got 'em. they qualify as a pest around here. Be careful - getting a mating pair of geese is like getting a pair of starlings. Exponential breeding!

Since I am surrounded by farmer's fields we have a twice yearly influx of Canada and Snow geese and I love it! It is so exciting watching them prepare to make their long trips and often when I hear them passing overhead I run out onto the porch to wish them safe journey and then I wish I was making the trip with them! Nature is grand!

That could prove very interesting!

Poor fellow! Hope eBay, etsy, or some flea market will have the mate you need for this lonesome guy.

We have lots of Canada geese here near Richmond, too, and love to hear them honking as they fly over. I'm also not sure you want any real geese to make a home with you.

Hugs!

Oh he is very handsome, alot better than the plastic deer people put out here!

Be careful, you may end up with every migrating goose that passes by in your yard, come spring. They are beautiful creatures, but, uh, let's just say, messy.

Oh my goodness he is one handsome lad - and NO droppings - the best of all worlds (LOL)... I love the callings of the Canada Geese - they pull something out of me, the long to take wing and fly free... Has anyone seen the show about teaching one to fly and migrate south? I believe one of the Bridges boys stars in it - it was filmed based on a true story - and the same idea is in use by Operation Migration (operationmigration.org) in raising and teaching whopping crane to migrate from Wisconsin to Florida every year... go to their website - they just finished a four month long migration with the "teen" whoopers - what beautiful photos and daily logs from those who train, travel with and fly in ultra lights all the way to FL...

He sure does look real. I expect his admirers to think he's rather wooden, though. :-)

A goose tried to land on our property. The wild turkeys ran him off!

He does look rather lonely out there in the snow...perhaps you will find another decoy to keep him company!

Looks real (apart from the 3rd leg). I'm sure he'll attract a mate before long.

that is one real goose!

When I saw your goose I laughed.
I don't see how the poor thing can attract a mate till spring, Unless it attracts one like it, unaware of the cold.

What fun! Love that goose! I hope he will find its mate.
And perhaps a family.....
