Older Than Dirt

I've been busy giving some of the Blue Willow and Staffordshire Ware pieces a bath.
I'm not sure why, it seems I often get the urge to spring clean in the fall.

I think it has something to do with the changing seasons, the coolness of the Autumn air, the heady scent of spiced-mix candles weaving their spell, the aroma of freshly baked banana bread.

This gathering of antique 'blues' are collectively over a half millennium in age.
They are still beautiful after all their years of service, and oh, what stories they could tell !

The banana bread will be lucky to make it through the end of day.........

I think I just drooled on my keyboard! Both for the Blue Willow AND the banana bread!
Blue Willow is ageless; I remember my Grandmother's china cupboard just full of it :)

Glad I don't have that banana bread around here, or I'd be stuffing myself. And yes, that Blue Willow is so pretty!

The Blue Willow is beautiful but I have to admit that I'm much more of a banana bread gal.

Oh Jo....now you've gone and done it. I'm trying to be a good girl and not eat anything sweet today but this picture of your Banana Bread has me drooling too. I have 3 banana's sitting on my counter waiting for me to pull out my best banana bread recipe but I was going to wait another day...don't think I can wait anymore! I love blue and white dishes and yours are beautiful. They just seem to get better with age don't you think. I hope you're having a wonderful day.

The dishes are wonderful. I love the feel of old china and like you I get the urge to clean and refresh my home in the Autumn. I won't even mention the name ----- bread as it will trigger my sweet tooth. :)

It's too hot in the summer to deep clean--I suppose that's why before air conditioning women deep cleaned their homes in Spring before the heat of summer, and Fall when the weather was cooler.
Your banana bread looks scrumptious! The Blue Willow dishes are lovely--I have just begun to collect them. They remind me of my maternal grandmother for they were her everyday dishes when my mom was growing up and she's 83 yrs. old now!

Jo, the Blue Willow is so pretty. I've always loved it; but alas no one in the family had any of it to pass down. Might have to start collecting some in the near future. The banana bread looks so yummy!

The blue and white dishes are so pretty. I bet they are shining now that you've cleaned them. I love to clean things that haven't had a bath in a while.

Oh my--I want banana bread now too :)

I'm getting hungry. LOL

Mmmm...banana bread, my favorite. Save a slice for me, I'll be right over! I Have found myself drinking hot tea lately instead of coffee. I think you're right about the urges that come about with the seasonal change.

If the banana bread makes it to morning, try it as french toast. Your tastebuds will never be the same. A little peach yogurt on the side will put you over the top.

Soon that 50 year old set will be antique. They don't make it last and beautiful like the ones you have anymore ! Isn't it.

I must admit that I gave most attention to the banana bread, but the Blue Willow is pretty as well.

The butter melting on the bread did it for me. I love blue chinaware of all kinds. I have a red stencil designed set of dishes that I need to share sometime to see if anyone knows it's history.

I was just thinking the same thing when I saw that banana bread.

The china is beautiful and so is the tray cloth. Like you, I like to clean in the autumn. It must be to do with the crispness of the weather.
The banana bread looks delicious. I made a cake this morning and in 20 minutes time (noon) I can justify having a piece of it.
Blessings, Star

I've come late to the love of blue and white china, tho my tea set as a child was Blue Willow. No matter the pattern, it has a timeless beauty and warmth that speaks of home to me.

And banana bread, too! Yum!!

Hugs!
