Ghostly White Pumpkins

'White pumpkins tumble over silvery fields '

They're here...

Eerie-looking white pumpkins — naturally white, not painted are finding their way into more and more homes for Halloween season.
The albinos are called Ghost pumpkins, Snowballs, Luminas or Caspers — presumably a reference to the friendly ghost.

They seem like they will almost glow.
White pumpkins, simply another variety of the autumn favorite, have been around for a while, but what was once a curiosity at farmers markets is now available at grocery stores and pumpkin patches.

I don't think I have ever seen these white pumpkins before, but I'll certainly keep a look out for them from now on.

Jo, these are some very wonderful pumpkins. I love things out of the ordinary to decorate with.

White pumpkins are definitely interesting and a change from the usual orange. But I think I'm somewhat of a traditionalist and prefer the orange ones.

Some of the pumpkins for sale now are downright ghastly. Dare I say ugly? Just right for Halloween.

What beautiful pumpkin cutting in the bottom photo! Did you do that? Certainly beats eyes and teeth.

I think I like the white pumpkins better than the orange and the carving on them is outstanding, makes me want to go buy a dremel and start making some of my own.
Oh, and thanks for sending the rain tuesday night, we sure needed it.

They have them around here, too. I think the carving in the second picture is amazing! Did you do it?

i have never seen or heard of white pumpkins. kind of odd to look at, and i wonder if the pies are white when cooked or if the inside is the color of pumpkin pie. love the 3 decorator pumpkin shot especailly the lacy one

The white pumpkins are eerily beautiful. This year I've seen white, green, blue, gray -- more shades of pumpkins ( or pumpkin like gourds) than any other year. It's amazing!
I've only bought the orange, though. Cheaper! Or maybe I'm stuck in a rut. :-)
Happy Halloween. Those carved pumpkins are stunning.

I have seen the white pumpkins around her and have to say that I haven't liked the look of them much. But, that picture of the carved ones is spectacular and almost makes me change my mind.

That last photo totally blows my mind. The carving is exquiste and so beautiful; if only there was a way to preserve them.

I've seen these when I've gone over to Lombardi Ranch (our local pumpkin patch). I've photographed them and shared them on my websites and many people are surprised to see the white pumpkins. They think they are painted that way. They are very unusual.

Old fashioned here, too. I prefer orange pumpkins, thank you!

I'm delighted that others love the white pumpkins because I'm all for "whatever floats your boat!"

Back to sewing with the accompaniment of your lovely music. Ta!

Hugs!
