Spring Cleaning

The First Sergeant spent the entire weekend, mowing, trimming, pruning, fixing, and even a little painting.
Putting the place 'to rights' after a long Winter's nap takes quite an effort, and will be ongoing for several weekends to come.

My effort consisted of hanging the Summer porch wreath, and ferns.
I've still got lots of empty pots to fill, and birdhouses to tend......

"Everything is blooming most recklessly;
if it were voices instead of colors,
there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night."
~ Rainer Maria Rilke: Letters of Rainer Maria Rilke

Beautiful! I was just thinking that it was probably warm enough to repot my fern and take it outside again. :) I'm loving that porch!

Your weekend sounds a lot like mine. The grass isn't quite ready to be mowed yet though.
The First Sergeant's work paid off, your yard looks lovely.

Your front porch is lovely. I envy you being able to get some spring cleaning done around the yard. It's either been cold and very windy here, or raining. Yes, raining again today, oh well ... maybe another day.

Love,

What a lovely place you live in.
Beautiful nature and a beautiful house to call home.
That ole yard work is something we are in need of doing.

I hope to have the yard raked this month and then the edge the sidewalks.

Hope hope we get it done. Still Spring cleaning inside.
It will be a delight when finished.

God bless,

Hello Jo! What a lovely porch...I miss my big one at the Victorian house but one day soon DH says he's going to build a screened porch here at the farm. I love your ferns...I have a few in the house too...they remind me of British Columbia and my English mum. It sounds like you had a busy but nice weekend...doesn't it feel good to finally be outside working in the yard again! I hope you have a wonderful day. Take care and best wishes...Maura

The garden looks wonderful already and isn't the grass green!!! I remember when you decked out your porch last year so now I have a continuity going. I was new to Blogger last spring and now I am coming full circle. I love your spring/summer wreath and your porch is to die for.
Blessings, Star

Your porch looks like the best place to sit and dream on a lazy summer day.

What an absolutely beautiful porch! And you're right that it didn't happen all by itself, but with a whole lotta work. I just love your place, inside and out.

What a cozy, inviting porch! Love the rockers. I always buy Boston ferns each year, but mine do not always do well on our backporch. Of course, I hear regular watering is a must (cringe). Maybe this will be the year I am successful in making them last all summer! :-) Wish me luck!

Hi Jo, I am always impressed with your ferns. You must have the perfect place for them... I love ferns--but there's just no good place for them up here. And then I don't have a place for them in winter. Oh Well----guess I'll just enjoy yours.

Beautiful pictures of your home/yard/wreath.... Spring has Sprung.
Hugs,
Betsy
